  • About The Role

  • Are you an experienced community safety professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for protecting our communities and environment?

    We're looking for a Senior Street Warden to lead our dedicated Street Warden team, helping to tackle environmental crime, address anti-social behaviour and promote responsible animal welfare across the Forest of Dean.

    This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll combine operational leadership with community engagement, enforcement, partnership working and service improvement. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a positive difference for residents, businesses and visitors.

    As Senior Street Warden, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the Street Warden Service, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet local priorities and statutory responsibilities while also managing a team of 2 people.

    Some of your responsibilities:

    • Tackling environmental crime, anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood issues.
    • Managing statutory services including stray dogs, abandoned vehicles and environmental enforcement.
    • Investigating complex complaints and leading enforcement action where appropriate.
    • Acting as an authorised Animal Welfare Inspector under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
    • Managing the Council's CCTV service, including compliance, contractor liaison and body worn camera systems.
    • Identifying opportunities to improve the service and deliver excellent outcomes for local communities.

    You will need…

    • Significant experience in community safety, environmental enforcement or a related local government service.
    • Experience of leading or supervising teams and managing operational priorities.
    • A strong understanding of community safety, environmental legislation and enforcement processes.
    • Experience of working with partners, community organisations and statutory agencies.
    • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above), or equivalent.

    Special Conditions…

    • You will be expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the service.
    • There may be a requirement to work at other locations to meet the needs of the business.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
    • Ability to travel / access to a vehicle for work purposes.
